There are a lot of great answers, in which I admire Robbin Daverman's most.
He pointe
d out what I wanted to say, which is, why was there no one offering help?
After watching the video, I asked myself: what if I was on that plane? What
should I do?
I am a Chinese citizen, and Chinese are famous of their “it’s none of my b
usiness” attitude. I used to think the Americans have much better citizensh
ip and much stronger sense of social responsibilities, I used to believe tha
t was the reason why the US was a better country. Today I have realized that
I was so wrong.
Here is the answer:
If I was on that plane as a tourist who couldn’t afford to change the sched
ule, I would at least ask the security to treat the poor senior better, thou
gh my English is barely useful I would ask them what if their parents needed
this ride so badly. If I was flexible on schedule, I would give my seat to t
he doctor and tell the whole flight crew in public “shame on you”. Bullyin
g an Asian elderly is safe right? Do you dare to do the same to BlackLivesMa
tter or LGBT people? Pick someone in your own size please. Shame on you flig
ht 3411, I mean, all of you, not only United.
