from the property depreciation that had been claimed in the years when the
property was a rental? |

greater than a certain amount. I think the purpose is to close this

Think about it, rental property has 23.5 years to depreciate the improvement
value, if during this time, convert it to primary residence, how about the
deduct each year?

I goggled a bit. It seems the accumulated depreciation is to be factored
into income in the year of sale (?). It's too complicated for me to read
further. I'll leave it to the professionals. :)

But when it converts to primary residence, that's complicated.
For example, right now, the property is $400,000, improvement is $235,000
one year depreciate is $10,000, after 5 years, accumulate is $50,000
but the housing market crash, the house value is $350,000, I don't think
this $50,000 is income.
So, the tricky part is when you convert rental into primary residence, you
can claim that your house "value" less.. , so, no income.....
Please point out if I'm wrong
