Bauer's remarks came at the opening of a debate Friday of Republican
gubernatorial hopefuls in Spartanburg.
The candidates were asked about Arizona's new tough illegal immigration law
and whether South Carolina should do more to fight the problem.
Bauer told the crowd of more than 200 that the real problem is South
Carolina's work force because residents don't want to work in the state's
fields and orchards. He told the crowd that laziness is not a disability.
