弯曲，如这个南加的同学遇到的情形一样：

其原因是这个 1978 年建的房子显然不符合1995年后发布的新抗震规范(i.e., UBC 97
& CBC 2007)的要求。
这是加州所有house with room over garage的通病：不符合CBC 2007 2305.3.4, for
shear wall aspect ratio greater than 2:1, but less than 3.5:1, the allowable
shear values should be reduced by 2w/h.

buildings。 因为这些high-rise office buildings几乎100%是在1995年前建造，均不
符合1994年Northridge地震后老美紧急于1995年发布的新抗震规范的要求。在最危险的
是三藩及Oakland的Downtown的high-rise office buildings上班的各位，首要事情就
是要搞消防楼梯的位置，一发生地震，尽快到消防楼梯往下走，因为消防楼梯均位于核
