发帖数: 2115 | 1 [Preface (4-21-2015)]: My family visited Greece for 2 weeks in 2004.
However, this is my 1st time to visit Marathon of Greece, all because I'm
one of marathoners now:-))). I thought about my marathon friends as well as
other running friends when I was at this legendary Greek town. The
followings are my Facebook entries dedicated to my running friends,
especially to those who ran Boston Marathon on Monday.
Greetings from Marathon, Greece (4-19-2015)
To all my marathon friends, especially to those who are going to run Boston
Marathon tomorrow: may speed, strength, passion, and fun be with you all the
way, from the start line in Hopkinton to the finish line in Boston. I'm
sending you special energy from the legendary Greek town Marathon to conquer
those Newton Hills just as the outnumbered Greeks defeated the invading
Persians during the battle of Marathon in 490 BC.
By the way, American town Hopkinton (the start point of Boston Marathon) is
one of two sister cities of Greek town Marathon (where the name and legend
of the marathon race came from).

Olympic Games in the modern era, also known as the Games of the I Olympiad
or the 1896 Summer Olympics, was held in Athens, Greece, in April 1896.
Athens was chosen to stage the inaugural modern Olympic Games because
Ancient Greece was the birthplace of the Olympic Games. The 1896 Olympic
marathon race started at this legendary Greek town Marathon and finished at
Panathinaiko Stadium in Athens. The highlight for the Greeks at the 1st
Summer Olympics was the marathon victory by their compatriot Spyridon Louis.

shirt on the monuments with the permission of local people.

marathoner and his family. His wife and son proudly told me that his best
marathon time is 2 hours 20 minutes.

Congratulations to all my friends who ran Boston Marathon this Monday.
Regardless of results, you all are my heroes. I tracked your running
online at a hotel in Athens of Greece (7 hours difference with Boston) until
almost 11PM of Greek time when my last friend passed the finish line. I
was particular proud of this friend who battled an injury and the
hypothermia (treated at a medical tent after 25K) and walked to the finish
line with the final time of over 5 hours even though he is a sub 3:10:00
marathoner. I was deeply touched by his perseverance. Pray he will have
full recovery soon.

commented.

Pheidippides.

去那里看看。
本打算跑完波马后挂靴，由于对波马成绩失望，决定明年4月18日再跑，今天已开始长
跑。希望你也再跑一次波马，让波士顿跑群的朋友一睹跑兔风采！
