Since I changed the job and moved from NYC to Texas, I did not have a
structured plan.
Training had been good till July when I did my regular morning run 5 times a
week.
Then came a blunder: I had a disk stress fracture when doing weight lifting.
(Worst of all, I was holding just a 15LB dumbbell in each hand.)
It was miserable as I could not even move when sleeping for three weeks. In
September I did some indoor biking. Then some walking on treadmill. Then
slow running (less than 2 miles) on treadmill.
Now I am back to the trail, and can run more than four miles each time. (
Probably I ramp up too fast because I still feel some back pain) My pace has
not recovered to the pre-back-injury level though. Mostly I am running at 9
minutes per second.
But I do not want to pass 2010 without a single race. So I registered a local 5K on Nov 6.
I miss you all and have read and got inspired by all your great achievements
. But I am not qualified to add my own comments to y'all fast runners!
So anyone wanna guess my upcoming 5K result? Whoever get the closest
estimate gets BAOZI!
BTW, I was in Chicago on the Marathon Day, Mark. It was way too hot for
running a marathon. All you Chicago marathon runners did great against the
temperature. I was just eating ice cream in Lincoln Zoo.

Welcome one more rabidly dedicated runner to Texas! Maybe we can organize a
relay such as Capitol to Coast next year. The human body is marvelous,
whatever didn't kill you make you stronger!

Welcome back. Haven't seen you, online and offline, since last year's NYCHM.
Since then lots new NYC runner joined us.
If I remember correctly, your back injury has kept you grounded for over one
and half years. I am glad you start running again.
I guess your pre-injury 5k time to be 19-20 min
But for now I have no clue. I bet 21:30.

今天本来打算跑个5-6迈的,不过临时改了主意。准备跑个tempo,看看下周5k的速度策
略。
一跑起来就控制不了,结果快成了speed run了。最后跑了2.5迈平均8分出头。这样算
来下周25分应该比较合理,靠谱。现在的bottleneck还是背部,跑下来又有些感觉。 :(
这三个星期突飞猛进呀。从一开始20分钟1.5迈到现在,我是老兵新传呀,hehe

your cardio capacity is still good. actually you could do some intervals if
you want to help your 5K? well.. only if your back permits..

一周15迈就不要interval了吧。我先争取能跑个10K的距离without back pain.
