Runner World's article brought justice to Zola Budd. An interesting
development the article missed, most likely intentionally, is:
Mary Decker was found using banned substance in 1996 and eliminated at
Atlanta Olympic by IAAF. Like many U.S athletes who failed drug test, Mary
had support from USATF and filed law suits and appeals against IAAF, but
eventually lost. |

read in this magazine. Very touching and deep.
I still clearly remember the scene that Mary Decker falling down during the
3000m run in LA Olympics and all those mean accusations to her. I actually
wondered what had happened to her these years.I was so glad to read her
story in RW.
I did not know she had to experience all those - personal family life(her
sister's death, her gay father) as well as the politics.What reall
