本来是举家move到philadelphia,但是发现金融工作还是集中在纽约.是不是想找金融工

unless you have very good reasons: I think you've made a highly possible
mistake, it's not too late to correct a mistake before its (negative) impact.
I have a friend who did not listen to me and he now deeply regrets.

just think about it. in general, I mean in general, industry people are
less capable, less smart, less focused, less motivated. How do they survive?

的finance academic market非常之差, 像stern, wharton这样地方毕业的finance phd
都有好几个是完全找不到top 50学术工作的。
而且pay more than a quant的工作只有在top 30这样的商学院才有。排名低的学校工
资也高不到哪里去。比如一些非旗舰的公立校，finance ap薪水就120k左右。

一来我不enjoy自己的research,二来不喜欢teaching school,也不太乐意去大大大乡下
,三来配偶在academia工作.俺觉得industry挺好.我也不是要找什么高薪工作,只要自己
喜欢的,和家庭可以协调就好了.

For most APs, it's about 13-15w/9 mos and slightly above 10w/9 mos for
teaching oriented schools. Anyway, it's good money given the life style.

called book) and get a percentage payout based on its profit and loss (PnL).
It's a high risk high reward job. If the PM manages a large portfolio, in a
good year they can make millions of dollars; but in a bad year they may get
fired and spends long time to find the next job if there is any. From what
you say it looks like you may like a career in a well established fund/group
doing research. The pay and life style can easily exceeds academic pay but
without much upside.
