a good test of your model will be to back-test AMR's market quote for the

recovery match w/ the real result.
best luck w/ your job search though.

have you thought about a few points:
1. if u caliberate different tenor and yield different parameters, what does
it mean?
2. can you observe realized and compare w/ implied parameters you
caliberated? and
3. is each parameter seperately tradable, or they are just intermingled? is
the market really complete? e.g. that vol-of-vol parameter in heston, for a long time, was not cleanly tradable.

l*******3 发帖数: 186 | 55 As long as there is stochatistic vol, the market is already incomplete. Let
alone adding jumps.
However, you can set up a stochastic discount factor to derive the model
under the risk neutral measure by the no-arbitrage assumption. Then you just go ahead to estimate the model in the risk neutral process if you are
interested in option prices. If you are interested in equity market, then just estimate the model in the physical measure is enough. The market does not have to be complete as always.
If you get different parameters, it can mean either your estimation method
is not efficient enough or there are multiple latent processes going on
underlying the market. But if your goal is just to generate good prices or
come up with trading strategies, maybe more than one parameter sets work, which is ok.
It is hard to estimate jump-diffusion models, but there are ways to do it. I
actually just proposed a method to estimate the model with price and vol
jumps under both measures. It is not easy but manageable I guess.
You can observe the realized variance and you still have to calibrate the
jump diffusion model with more data (not only RV). If your calibrated model parameters are good enough, you should be able to generate good features of
RV.

s******e 发帖数: 1751 | 56 interesting comment.
vol-of-vol is becoming more tradable these days, compared to 2002 Soc
Napolean blow up. but still it's extremely inefficient.
I don't think there is value to use stochastic vol to predict spot move.
Listed contains enough information for underlying. maybe i am missing
something here, about delta/vega cross hedge(?).
The question about jump-diffusion is that, how do you hedge it? what's your
risk/return profile based on the modeling. There are always ways to model
things and spit out some simulated path, but can you count those path when
you take risk?
Is there anythinga bout physical measure that anyone would recommend? My
knowledge about this area is very limited.
BTW, you validate your model based on RV? interesting.

RV as one measure among other data, such as returns and option prices, to
calibrate the jump diffusion model together for both measures. I can show
that this model can generate sufficient dynamics in returns and RV and also
better vol smirk and term structure in option prices. This is what I got so
far. I will need to do more applications. Though jumps are hedgable, but if
it helps to estimate the option prices with less pricing errors, it has its
values, right?
