depends on the chance of enforce such non compete. In general it's a
negotiation process since original company does not want to pay your salary
during sit out period unless they really need to. So usually the term is
reduced but you are paid by new company during sit out period. But anything
longer than 1 year is pretty rare.
Obviously team environment are more likely have non-compete.
