fundamental question, and different people may have different opinions. I
would like to join and encourage the discussion by sharing my ideas regarding
such a question.
In order to discuss or investigate any question, the first step is to clearly
define the terms or constructs in the question of interest. For our question,

| s*******n 发帖数: 121 | 4 my understanding about Popper's theory is that: if a theory can give a
prediction under certain clear defined conditions, and there is a way to test
whether the prediction is true or false, the theory is science if its
prediction is proofed to be true. otherwise, if a theory cannot give a
prediction that has the possibility to be false,or in other words, if a theory
can only give predictions that cannot be wrong, it is not science. It is the
possibility that a theory can give wrong prediction ma

| j****e 发帖数: 245 | 6 At first, I thought of the falsifiability of the scientific theory, which
means that a scientific theory can be falsified. The doctorine maintains that
our scientific knowledge claims are invariably vulnerable and may be false.
Scientific theories cannot be asserted as true catagorically, but can only be
maintained as having some probability of being true. Though we can never prove
a scientific theory as absolute truth, any scientific theory should allow
testing to prove it wrong if it is indeed

| s*******n 发帖数: 121 | 7 maybe i should say "the possibility that a theory can give
prediction which can be tested to be true or wrong, make the theory a
science." but more accurate description is in ur last paragraph. In short, i
agree with all ur said since it make my understanding clearer:) thanks.
the only problem is that i am not sure whether there is an absolute truth. I
cannot convenience myself that there is sth there, but we can never approach
it.
