The Department of Measurement, Statistics & Evaluation
at the University of Maryland, College Park will offer a
short course on "Analyzing Unfolding Item Response Theory
Models with GGUM2004 Software" on August 12-13. Responses

Just to add some background...random thoughts.
Unfolding is a concept developed in Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS). In
political scientists' terminology, unfolding refers to what they call
"ideal-point" of attitude, etc.
Major developments of MDS occurred in a period of time from 60s to 70s. Many
of the classical papers of metric and non-metric MDS work were published in
the journal Psychometrika. MDS is one of the many multivariate techniques
