发帖数: 106 | 1 大家好 今年我面试了五所学校 被入取了4所，被 waitlist 了一所。。
入取我的学校是 University of Maryland, UNC-Chapel Hill, Temple University 跟
Jefferson School of Pharmacy.
被 waitlist 的学校是 Campbell University.
我现在比较想去 Jefferson School of Pharmacy 跟 UNC-Chapel Hill. 不是很想去
University of Maryland 的原因是 如果 要上的话，我夏天还要再读3们 Prereq 的
课。 不喜欢 Temple University 是因为 他们的campus 是在 North Philly, 一个非
常 ghetto 的 location,而且他们的 Hospital 也没有 Jefferson 的 hospital 有名
。 据说他们的 rotation sites 也没有 Jefferson 的好。
我非常喜欢 Jefferson School of Pharmacy 跟 UNC-Chapel Hill. 可是两者相比的
话我好像更喜欢 Jefferson 多一点， 因为它的地点 是在费城 市中心 是个很繁华的
地点，是个会喜欢生活的地方。 我也很喜欢他们把 IPPE 纳入在 semester 中 而不
是 在 summer time. 而且他们每个 semester 的rotation 都不一样， 有 community,
hospital, 有 clinical.. 很多 学校clincial rotation 到 APPE的时候 才有。 这
个学校唯一让我担心的是 it's not fully accredited yet. 不过很多人都觉得这个
学校 拿到 fully accreditation 不是个问题， 因为他们有个很不错的 Medical
School 跟 Nursing School. 就连我去 Temple University 面试的时候 他们有个学
生 也建议我如果被Jefferson 入取了 就去 Jefferson 读。
我也蛮喜欢 Chapel Hill 的，我有几个同学也被他们给入取了准备在那里读。 我以
前是在北卡生活的所以很早就知道 Chapel Hill 的 Pharmacy School 是个非常好的学
校。 不过 去那边读书的话 out-state tuition 会非常的贵， 而且去那边还要 买车
。。就是去那边就是 还蛮奔波的。而且我觉得北卡很无聊。。。 不过我去那边的话
我summer 就不需要读任何 classes. 去 Jefferson 的话还要再读一门。
我以后毕业了 还蛮像做 residency 的， 不过 工作也 可以 我蛮喜欢在 retail 里面
工作， hospital 的话 也可以。。。 very flexible person haha...

Most of the time, you don't need to drive, the bus system is very convenient
and free. But you do need a car to during your rotation. The tuition is not
too high especially comparing with Campbell. If you have green card or
citizenship, you can apply for in-state tuition in your second year.
If you are considering residency after graduation, you definitely should
choose Chapel Hill. |

are you from Chapel Hill? Seems like you are very familiar with North
Carolina. I really wanna work at North East region after I graduated..
Since everyone is telling me that in order to find a job you really need to
have a connection. That's why I am thinking that if I go to Jefferson for
pharmacy school it will provide me a better opportunity to make connections
around the region.
I went to NC for my undergrad and I don't look forward to live there in the
future.

学费比同在费城的另外两所私立学校UPenn, Drexel便宜。

bad in terms of safety issue. As long as you did not walk on the street in
the middle of the night. Other than, I have not encounter neither my friends
have encounter anything yet.

背景的话我想我的成绩跟很多其他这里的中国人会逊色很多。。
我的 PCAT 成绩 很一般 就80多%。是本科毕业的 valedictorian。有leadership 经验
。 是个药房的full-time technician. 本科的时候做过RA, 做过两个 NSF 的 summer
researches. 还做过很多个社区服务， 比如 New York Cares, Food Bank,
hospitals.
我当初申请学校的时候申请了很多学校 差不多 10多所吧，而且都是在东岸的。我当初
申请的时候 没有去看学校排名， 就只看看我的pre-requisites requirement， 差不
多match 的话我都申请。 因为我听别人说 pharmacy school is very competitive.
所以当时希望里面有一所收我的话就很开心了。 不过后来到supplemental
application 的话 我就 只有completed like 6 schools。 因为很多学校的
supplemental application 需要additional essay. 当时很懒所以就不想申请了。
我的application 大概是在10月份初提交的。 大概 at end of October 就收到
Campbell 的 interview. 我interview 都是用 SDN 跟 几个朋友的意见来做准备的。
Campbell 是我第一个interview没有准备的很好, 当时 飞机被延迟了 5个小时. 后来
唯一做最充分的preparation 是Thomas Jefferson.. 后来被Jefferson 入取后我都是
以 能入就被入取的心态去面试。 面试的建议就是 just be yourself, learn their
schools and understand pharmacy career.

发帖数: 352 | 24 你这样的背景当然随便申请一个学校都会要了。从学习成绩，leadership, 社区服务到
full-time technician,等等等等都是pharmacy school 看中的啊。
就你这样的经历背景不去top pharmacy school 可惜了。
我个人认为读pharmacy school 在一个top program里还是很有必要的。
以后找工作可能不比从前了。不会再是随便一个毕业生好多家雇主抢。
以后说不定“牛校”和“烂校”在找工作上也会有差别的。何况你也不能排除以后要申
请residency什么的可能。 |

这个pharmacy school 没有实际的排名。。你再仔细看看 他们的排名是在2008年的。

学生很多住郊区或者西费城（和宾夕法尼亚大学、Drexel大学的学生一样）。
如果你选择住市中心，条件中等以上的每月房租要1千多美元。你学生几年没有
多少时间享受市中心的夜生活（虽然费城城市不小，但也没有什么夜生活）。

体验一下新环境也不错啊
而且他以后就不会后悔没去jefferson，而是后悔当初为什么会选jefferson的了 |

如果想拿到Chapel Hill 的 in-state tuition 难吗?
我现在有 北卡的 driver license, 我Middle School, High School, 跟 大学都是在
北卡读的。。。
