Amgen Job Description Amgen’s 10 – 12 week internship program offers
meaningful project experiences that impact patient’s lives. This internship
provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to
participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive
compensation. Relocation in the form of a transportation allowance will be
provided for eligible candidates.
The Pivotal Purification Process Development department is seeking an intern
to work on technology improvement project to support current process
development. The department develops: 1) economically attractive process for
commercial production that delivers safe and efficacious product to
patients, 2) process understanding that enables robust manufacturing of
proteins, 3) technologies that ‘differentiates’ Amgen in the business of
developing and manufacturing biologics.
The intern will work with a group of scientists and engineers and gain
industrial experience in purification process development and other useful
skills, such as literature research, DOE, presentation and publication. The
intern will be expected to have following responsibilities: 1) performs
experiments independently while following operating procedures and safety
protocols, 2) documents experimental details and results in compliance with
the electronic laboratory notebook, 3) updates supervisor with detailed
results and presents findings in team meetings environment.
Basic Qualifications Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a
grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following
criteria:
18 years or older
Graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
Completion as a first year graduate student before internship starts and
currently enrolled in a MBA program for a MBA internship OR a Master’s
program for a Master’s internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD
internship OR PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or
university
Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential
internship or co-op assignment
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Preferred Qualifications Current PhD student in chemical engineering,
biochemical engineering or biotechnology related majors
Strong science and engineering skills
Good written and oral communication skills |
