Aug. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Amgen Inc., the world's largest biotechnology
company, will slash jobs for the first time in its 27-year history,
close plants and cut capital spending in response to declining sales of
its top-selling drug.
The job cuts will total 2,200 to 2,600, or 12 to 14 percent of the
workforce, under a plan to save more than $1 billion in 2008, Amgen said
