The main difference between 8 desktop and 7 is the start menu. The catch
here is that you need to abandon the old habit of walking down the menu tree
. Instead, you do a search. I began to understand search is at its essential.
There are a few different ways to do the search. Win-F is a way, or if you
go to the start screen, and just start typing, the searchbox will
automatically appear.
I actually set my start screen to be "All application" view instead of live
tiles. This way, when I start typing in start screen, it is searching only
for application instead of everything.
I personally hate live tiles, to be mean, I think whoever designed this has
no sense of elegance, but that's just me. People may find it convenient and
efficient.
