发帖数: 119 | 29 凌晨气温低，冰雪比较硬，方便走。更重要的是太阳晒暖的岩石和冰雪容易造成落石。
Hood的松石还是很多的，非常容易掉落。

发帖数: 314 | 31 Just my 2 cents for those who is as newbie as me: I climbed Mt. Shasta
before I soloed Mt. Hood last May. They are not at the same level. Mt. Hood'
s last 300 feet (pearly Gate route)was quite challenging, continually
falling stones (7:30am), 50 degree snow slope, the risk of avalanche, and
the fumaroles + "the giant crevasse" right behind if you fall... moreover,
my stamina is almost gone after 6 hours of climbing on snow slope, my quad
start cramping -- it is much more difficult compared to Shasta,which gives
you a treat after misery hill (plus it is a two day climb). I rate myself as
low-average stamina among
mountaineers. Now I think jumping from Shasta to Hood might not be a good
idea for me even though I succeeded. |

了一起走，那么就是一个团队。我约人出去户外活动，不管是攀冰，爬Rainier, 还是
一般的hiking, 只要是我召集的，我一定会对整个队伍的安全负责，就是改变计划也要
让大家都安全地回家。

randomly hooking up a few people in the parking lot to go with.
I know the very top is quite steep, that's why I posted someone else's
pictures so that whoever wants to join has an idea of the terrain and must
be comfortable with it. So unlike the Rainier climb I started in another
post, for this climb, we are not a team, we are unroped, anyone can join or
drop at any moment during the climb, and nobody can dictate what other
people do. I assume everyone joining the climb is capable of doing the climb
on his/her own.
Different climbs or outings can be run differently. I don't like to act like
a guide or a climb leader of a climbing club for every climb I initiated.

when I was skiing there. More rain in the forecast for tomorrow.
There was a search and rescue operation going on from yesterday afternoon
throughout the night. One climber got injured at Zigzag Canyon. |

secondary.
If weather is good, I will be on Rainier during 7/4 weekend.
