预报，4000左右是moderate，而接近5000和更高的地方就是considerable了。Wright
Mtn的summit是5200左右，但是snow lake以上几乎都是在树林里，而且坡度较缓，在雪
崩易发坡度范围之下，所以leader John同学星期五发了一个finally call，说计划不
变，星期六照常出发，他觉得雪崩不会是大问题。不过尽管如此，我们七个人的队伍，
John还是准备了3个bacon和3把挖人的铲子，呵呵。实际上他的估计还是准确的，我们
今天看到的所有雪崩遗迹都是在snow lake以下相对暴露的陡坡上。七个人排队在一个
雪坡上traverse的时候，俺还中奖被catch了一次，人生又完整了一点，呵呵^-^
八点从alpintal的停车场出发，去的时候走的是snow lake夏天的trail，回来走的是
source lake的back country路线。snow lake夏天的trail在WA的受欢迎程度排名第二

3ft unconsolidated snow above ice layer? you should expect humman triggered
avalanche.
One thing I would like to mention (again and again) is that climbing with
club (or other) leader(s) doesn't mean you will be safe, you are responsible
for your own safety. Use both your knowledge and common sense to make
decision. Blindly following so called experienced climbers simply puts you
in more dangerous situatio

And you don't want to be carried into trees, you may get head trauma by
hitting a tree... |

发帖数: 13580 | 6 That trail is the NUMBER ONE avy prone terrain in the whole state. The last
week has seen some unconsolidated snow and the temperature has been very
high. Sine it's a scramble, I assume most if not all the people do not have
enough avy knowledge, not to mention not everyone has avy gears (which are
useless if you don't know how to use them). I can't understand the leader's
call.

But I feel really lucky this time as the avalanche itself is not that bad.
The speed is completely under control, so I am not worried about hitting a
tree. With an ice axe and a helmet, I should be able to stop myself
immediately. Without helmet, however, I dare not fight too hard. I can
maintain speed and my body position while going down with the snow. Two
things I am worrying about is being covered by snow and being knocked by
large snow ball. And luckily, no big fall going a |

发帖数: 1327 | 8 Sounds a very sketchy trip. Glad that all of you are okay.
One thing I learn from Avy1 course is that not to under estimate the risk
based on avy advisory. The forecast is to give an idea for a large area
while each slope is with different conditions(wind/temperature/snow pack/
aspect,etc) and need to keep eyes open and evaluate carefully. Given there
were recent avalanche debris observed, extra caution should be taken.
