Finally we decided to take a rest in San Diego.
I did my hardest sport and trad lead ever, and decided to atempt a 6-pitch 5.
10c mixed climb yesterday (Prince of Darkness at RR). However, due to the
heavy rain recently the approach was filled with water. We were forced to
free solo a 5.9 part on our approach with 20lb pack. I was totally scared by
that part even after my partner set up toprope for me after he soloed it |

Hi, you! How long are you going to stay there? I am heading next weekend,
pretty sure will do bouldering and some sport climbing. >50 sounds really
good considering the bloody cold weather I have here right now. I got a
booklet of sport climbing problems, but the guildbook for bouldering is hard
to get, hopefully I could have my luck in the gear stores nearby!

Sounds interesting. But rock climbing is outside my capability and I don't
know whether I would pick it up someday. Occasionally, when I am crazy
enough, I might do some class 4 scramble/free climbing. That's about it for
me.
I heard about Joshua Tree to be like a "Mecca" for rock climbing in SoCal.
Don't know if the rock is stable enough for free scramble?

Bouldering is not fun unless you have a group of people together. Sport
climb routes in JT are either toprope, which takes time to set up, or run
out and really scary, or 5.12 and above. I love the trad routes there much
better

发帖数: 2636 | 10 RR is superb for sports climb. I didn't do trad there since the sand stone
was
still soft after heavy rain recently. JT is wonderful for trad, and there
are a lot of good climbing right at the hidden valley camp ground. 1 min
approach
