bank is required by state laws, to monitor and report property (accounts)
without customer initiated activity within time frames defined by each state
. Accounts without customer-initiated contact or activity for extended
periods may have status codes reflecting the inactivity. The system
automatically places inactive/dormant/abandoned status codes on accounts
when no customer-initiated monetary or non-monetary activity or
correspondence has occurred. Escheatment is the reporting and submitting of
abandoned or unclaimed property to the state.
