翅的，另一种就是卖鱼翅的。
先说吃鱼翅的人。我也吃过鱼翅，但真没觉得有多美味，更好吃的应该是鱼翅汤里面的
菇类跟肉汤才对。说这个是传统食品也有点过了，因为古代的时候鱼翅基本只有皇族才
能享用；没有现代工具的辅助，捕捉一条鲨鱼成本基本等于人命，所以鱼翅的价格才昂
贵啊。另外，怀过宝宝的人都知道，深海鱼类是孕妇的大忌，鲨鱼首当其冲，原因很简
单，因为鲨鱼含大量贡（mercury）。所以本身食用鱼翅就对身体健康无利。基本总结
为，现代人吃鱼翅其实等同于身份跟地位的象征，虚荣心作崇罢了。
再说卖鱼翅的人。借助于现代工具捕捉鲨鱼，危险度基本为零，操作难度基本等于没有
，否则每年全球鲨鱼被猎杀的数量也不会超过几十个million了。而每年全球丧生在鲨
鱼口中的人类有多少？我忘记数据了，记得好像是100多吧？另外鲨鱼一般不吃人的，
别被好莱坞片子忽悠了，在鲨鱼口中丧生的人顶多是因为失血过多而亡，并不是被当做
食物吃掉了。这个你可以自己去做research。跑题了。说回关于卖鱼翅的人，理由很简
单啊，做这个生意绝对是暴利的。现在在chinatown卖一磅鱼翅，少说也得上百了吧？
也难怪有那么多反对的声音了，如果禁止买卖鱼翅的法令颁布了，这就断了许多商家的
财路了。
有说关于political correct或者incorrect的问题，我觉得没必要上升到讲政治的程度
。你随便去问搞海洋生物学的研究者，都会告诉你鲨鱼大量的消失（以一年40million
的速度减少）对自然已经海洋生态环境的影响有多大。即使从动物保护的角度来看，不
要跟我说鱼翅跟鸡鸭鱼猪肉的可比性，因为根本没办法比。禽畜是可以人工养殖的，而
且生理成熟期非常短。而鲨鱼的生理成熟期有的跟人类差不多，要等到它们正常交配繁
殖需要18年（当然由于种类不同，成熟期从6年到18年不等），但是捕杀鲨鱼的人可不
管是哪种种类，只要是鲨鱼就捕杀的。再者就是鲨鱼的需要野生的生长环境，但凡可以
进行人工大量养殖的话我也不反对吃鱼翅。
这就是我支持纽约禁售鱼翅的理由。最后我也文艺一把，为了一时胃口之快，生灵涂炭

事情都容易拿华人开刀的做法。自家的孩子自家打，别人不能随便打，类似的道理。
美国搞政治的很聪明，要实现一个不正义的目的总是能先找到一个看上去绝对正义的出
发点，如果严格地就事论事就上当了。不过反对归反对，我还是很佩服他们这点，比中
宣部什么的强多了。

expensive, and it's high end food that normal people can't have in their
daily lives. Treating friends and relatives with shark fins will show you
have face, admiration..etc. Right? If you are not a business man, how often
do you have shark fins soup? There are causes and effects and there are
consequences of over fishing at the expense of booming purchasing power that
a lot of people have now. A lot of people don't care until the consequences
affect their daily lives.
I don't see how this bill can help her political goals in the Chinese
communities.

probably thinks that the Chinese folks are dumb enough to vote for her
regardless of what she does.
Disagree with the showing face comment, I had them remove from my banquet menu
because not all guests would eat shark fins. Don't think I have lost or
gain face for that.
Once it is ban, wouldn't that make the shark fin even more exotic? Remember
it would only be ban in NYC and you get them elsewhere. Just like Cuban
cigars, all through it is banned in the US, people would just get them
elsewhere.
