Last week, we reported that the employees at the Macy's in Herald Square
might go on strike. Today, Crain's confirms that the strike has been
authorized and will come into effect "if negotiations fail to produce a new
contract by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday." We've also now learned that this will
effect four Macy's locations: the flagship in Herald Square, the Bronx,
Queens and White Plains.
As previously mentioned, one of the major gripes is that the employee's full
-time hours are said to be in jeopardy, and here's how: "Officials from
Local 1-S of the union contend management wants to implement a new
electronic scheduling system that would erode full-time shifts, seniority
rules and overtime." In addition, Union officials have said that Macy's is
only willing to shell out a 35-cent hourly wage increase and "an additional
5-cent increase for workers with outstanding performance reviews," which is
pretty crappy when you consider that some of the wages begin at $7.50 an
hour. Naturally, the union is seeking for a higher amount, but in the
meantime, temporary workers have already been hired just in case a decision
isn't reached—or as it was worded in the Times classifieds, "in
anticipation of a possible labor dispute." |

cream each over $35 and you check them out seperately, you should get 2
gifts. but if you buy one thing over $70, you will still get one gift. rash,
rash, i am not sure if they are still having gifts in store. i bought mine
last week. if their gifts running out, you can buy online and get free gift
too but i guess the bar will be $50 for free shipping. give them a call if
you want to make sure the store still have gifts.
