z*****e 发帖数: 74 | 1 Old water tank is dying ... options are: tankless, hybrid and old tank.
Does anyone have any experience with the newer tankless and tankless hybrid?
Which one is better?
Which brand has better reputation?
thanks |

several vendors. They don't recommend hybrid since we live in NJ . Heat
pump works better in warmer regions like Florida. As for tankless, it
requires quite some amount of additional electrical work in my case and its
initial cost was very high. Thus, I did not pursue down that route. At the
end, I stick with Whirlpool gas heater. Hope it helps. |

Seems more people against tankless than favor it.
I think I am going to stay away from it ... cost is much higher too with
tankless, at least 3 times from the quotes I have now. |

Pretty much the same principal. Water passing through heating elements.
They are both gas & electric tankless models.

retrofit cost might not be worth it. |
z*****e 发帖数: 74 | 7 and seems it is not that reliable either ... not sure why. People in China
have been using this for many years. But I saw many bad reviews online, less
than 40% approval rate for tankless ... maybe because the usage here is
much bigger than it is in China, both bigger house and more frequently using
it(?)
It costs 3-5 time more than conventional heaters and save on utility is
about $30. |

terrible reviews everywhere. |
