on the second Monday of January. That, plus the lucrativeness of
having games on Jan 1st/2nd/3rd, makes it infeasible to have any playoffs
that involve more than 2 teams.
1) 2 or more rounds need at least one week. University presidents won't
allow this to happen as otherwise no students will show up for the
first week's class.
