w******t 发帖数: 356 | 1 First thing everybody should know is that, we are in the BCS system.
1)BCS aims to select TWO BEST TEAMS in the nation into the final NCG.
2)There has never been a guarantee that the "BCS system" will never be self-
defeating. Actually many participants already noticed that and since then
have been making hard efforts to modify/destroy it.
Everything I will say in this post and you would argue should be based on
above mentioned common ground.
I, for one, a couple of weeks ago, never expected Bama would have an
opportunity for this year's NC (still not 100% yet). No matter how you spin
it with either more yards and first downs, missing FGs, or probably call on
the interception, etc., the fact is hard and cold: we lost to LSU.
After the game, just like many other Bama fans, I feel disappointed and
frustrated, but I congratulated LSU fans for their win and did not make any
excuse. As much as I believe Bama is way better than other competitors, even
head and shoulder above, I don't think under the BCS system, everything
could magically fall together into one piece and we can still fight for the
champion without LSU losing a game on the road. That's how BCS works, I
accepted.
(But maybe I got a little too defensive and here is an apology for niuniu.
Although I don't think anything that I said is wrong, I should have watched
my tone. Am sorry.)
OK, now three weeks later, when all other teams failed to take advantage of
the opportunity to play in the NCG, Bama re-emerged as the ONLY solid
contender for that game. I understand many people at here hate to see a
rematch. But if it's worked out under the current system, then it should be
it.
Now we may have different argument about who is the 2nd best team now in the
league -- fortunately, we don't have the votes and therefore not need to
worry voting. So we can just put the disagreement aside and wait for the
final votes.
If it turns out to be a rematch and a large number of people don't like it,
then maybe BCS is self-destroying. So if BCS indeed has already come to the
end of its life, Bama and all other teams (OSUw, STANFORD) losing in the
past two weeks contribute in exploring this glaring defect.
So, well, in conclusion, if you enjoying seeing BCS's end and having a new
play-off system, you should thank OSUw, ISU, Stanford, USCw, and Alabama,
ESPECIALLY if bama's win over LSU next month may create any controversy.
ENJOY THE GAME, you won't have the BCS for long and we will all witness
its end. | g*********d 发帖数: 8125 | 2 OU just have to lose to OSU to save BCS
