Norm Chow, recognized as one of the top offensive coaches in college
football, is Utah's new offensive coordinator, head coach Kyle Whittingham
announced today. Chow brings 38 years of coaching experience to the job,
including 35 years as an NCAA assistant coach and three years as an NFL
assistant. He was most recently at UCLA, where he spent the last three
seasons as the Bruins' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Chow, a native of Hawaii, was born May 3, 1946 in Honolulu. He earned a
bachelor's degree in physical education from Utah in 1968 and a master's
degree in special education, also from Utah, in 1970. He earned a doctorate
in educational psychology from BYU in 1979.
Chow's road back to his alma mater--he lettered for Utah from 1965-67,
starting two seasons and earning first-team all-Western Athletic Conferences
as a senior (he was later named to Utah's All-Century team)--included stops
at BYU (1973-99), North Carolina State (2000), USC (2001-04), the Tennessee
Titans (2005-07) and UCLA (2008-10). | b**j
