canceled check is the check you wrote to someone else and he cashed/deposited
it, and then the bank which issued the check for you just returns this check
to you for your record. Most of the bank don't return canceled check to you
but they have Safekeeping service for your canceled check. But some banks can
return canceled check to you for free, but some have fee applied. Recently,
many banks have check image serivce which you can see your canceled check
online or within your bank statement.
