Both directions of Hwy. 212 have been shut down between Dell Road and Hwy.
101 as authorities deal with a hostage situation that started with a car
chase.
Police deployed stop sticks to stop the eastbound fleeing motorist, who
stopped between Dell Road and Hwy. 101. All eastbound lanes were blocked and
traffic jammed back to Hwy. 101.
Initial scanner reports indicate that at least two shots were fired and that
there was a hostage situation in progress | r*****a

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (KMSP) - A Minnesota State Patrol source told Fox 9 that
two people were shot after a high-speed chase ended in a crash and hostage
situation on Highway 212 in Eden Prairie, Minn.
The chase started with a traffic complaint during the Friday morning commute
in Chaska. The suspect car fled into Chanhassen before police attempted a
PIT maneuver on the edge of Eden Prairie.
The pursuit ended when the speeding car hit a barrier on Highway 212,
between Highway 101 and Dell Road, shutting down Highway 212 in both
directions during the 8 a.m. hour.
The conditions of the two people shot are unknown, but no police officers
were hurt in the struggle. The total number of people who were inside the
speeding car is also unknown at this time.
Eastbound Highway 212 is expected to remain closed in the area until noon
Friday as the incident is investigated. | l****s
