Elon Musk On Being A Product-Obsessed 'Nano-Manager': 'It's Not A Recipe For
Happiness'
Speaking with the Wall Street Journal, Musk described himself as a "nano-
manager."
It's a wonderfully scientific descriptor for his management style.
While other leaders might have a reputation as micro-managers, Musk said he'
s a nano-manager. In scientific pursuits, micro- means a thousandth of
something, while nano- means a billionth. In essence, Musk is saying that he
's exponentially more hands-on than the average boss.
"I have OCD on product-related issues," he told the Journal. "I always see
what's ... wrong. Would you want that? When I see a car or a rocket or
spacecraft, I only see what's wrong."
"I never see what's right," he continued. "It's not a recipe for happiness."
Musk is famous for his high standards, the kind that helped make the Tesla
Roadster and the Model S so eye-catching. He has a reputation for always
being the smartest guy in the room, no matter if it's filled with engineers,
designers, or finance professionals.
It makes for a demanding work environment.
"You can always tell when someone's left an Elon meeting: they're defeated,"
wrote a Quora user claiming to be a SpaceX engineer. "[Musk] won't hesitate
to throw out six months of work because it's not pretty enough or it's not
'badass' enough."

一直没明白为啥tesla车充电能跑300mile，其它volt， leaf啥的只能80mile，因为不

电池的能量密度高，但是比笔记本电池安全。

把笔记本电池装汽车上就是tesla？ 怪不得这么贵，musk正在NV建一个gaga factory造
电池，说能大幅降低成本。

Car thief becomes first person to die in a Tesla Model S crash
Elon Musk can no longer say that no one's ever died in a Tesla automobile
crash. But few people will be pointing fingers at the electric car maker for
this senseless tragedy. Earlier this month, 26-year-old Joshua Slot managed
to successfully ride off with a Model S he'd stolen from a Tesla service
center in Los Angeles, but police quickly spotted the luxury vehicle and
gave chase. According to Park Labrea News, the high-speed pursuit was
eventually called off after officers were involved in a fender bender of
their own, leaving the police department strained for resources and without
any feasible way of catching up to Slot. Reports claim he was traveling at
speeds of "nearly 100 mph," but losing the police tail apparently didn't
convince Slot to hit the brakes.
Instead he sped on, eventually colliding with three other vehicles and a
pair of street poles. The final impact was severe enough to "split the Tesla
in half" and eject Slot from the car's remains. The Tesla's front section
wound up in the middle of the road and caught fire. Its rear portion flew
through the air with such force that it slammed into the side of a local
Jewish community center and became wedged there.
Five other people were injured during the ordeal, but they've since been
released from treatment. Emergency responders suspected that Slot was
already dead when they arrived at the debris-littered scene. But he wasn't.
Perhaps it's a testament to Tesla's safety measures that Slot remained alive
and was briefly resuscitated en route to the hospital. Ultimately though,
he succumbed to his injuries and died on Monday. It's the first publicly
reported death of someone behind the wheel of a Model S.
Earlier this year, Tesla announced it would be adding a titanium shield to
the Model S underbelly to guard against battery fires, a problem that arose
in some early accidents involving the car. Tesla's vehicles have otherwise
gained stellar safety marks across the board, something that Musk is often
quick to highlight. Sadly there's nothing the company could have done to
prevent this devastating crash.

了。大公司CEO一天要开的会、要理解的东西、要做的决定，即使纯粹从量上说，也绝
对要比一线经理多近十倍。

没什么创新和高科技。tesla说白了就是个有钱人的玩具，不是美日德汽车大佬做不过
，是因为人家的目标是大众市场能接受的，技术，成本，安全性这些要能够达到和传统
汽车有竞争力的水平。 |

他和jobs明显不是一个路子。Jobs真正技术创新有限但对产品态度要细腻艺术得多。要
射大火箭没功夫造大发动机，musk就把27个小发动机并联起来，他搞产品有战时军工的
架势。
