我在芝加哥南部， 临近Indiana。 今年房子租给了一个白人。 这个周末收到他的律师
写来的一封信， 说要起诉我， 因为我的房子温度， 夜间没有达到芝加哥市政府规定
的68- 70度。
原信件中有这样的文字：
Chicago's Heat Ordnance
13-196-410
Residential buildings--Heat to be furnished.
From September 15 to June 1 Building owners are required to provide the
following temperatures for their tenants:
68 degrees from 8:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m.
70 degrees from 10:30 p.m.-8:30 a.m.
If these temperatures are not being maintained, tenants should contact their
your landlord or building manager immediately. If this situation persists
they should call 311, the new non-emergency phone number, and the
Conservation Bureau will send an inspector to the premises to check
temperature levels and enforce the Heat Ordinance.
Landlords who fail to maintain proper temperatures will have their cases
sent to Administrative Hearings or a special Heat Court, where the building
owner can be fined.
