I finished my medical school in China and came to the U.S. based on my
marriage in 2006. I took a few years working on USMLE and Match, finally
got a PGY-1 position in internal medicine residency program in TX. I
believe
you all know how much hard work we need to get there. I started my
training 7/2011, and completed my intern year 7/2012. Now I am PGY-2, but
the program forced me to resign last month. The excuse is some so called
language and culture barrier, which they do not think they can help me to
fix it. ( BTW, I am not the first one from foreign country who was force
to
leave this training program. I am the third one since 7/2011. I do not
know the case prior to that.) So I had to resign as I did not think I
have a chance to fight. I know my seniors' tough stories when they tried to
fight with the program.
Now I need to look for a program to continue my training. I prefer a PGY-2
position in internal medicine, but really do not mind to restart as a PGY-1
in internal medicine or family medicine. I understand the competition is
high due to large amount of applicants that I might not be able to pursue
in
medicine any more. I still want to try my luck, and let the God make the
decision.
So please inform me if you guys know some openings in IM or FM. I do not
care the location. ( BTW, I do not have California letter.) | A*******s

see no hope on your improvement for a given chance, or something like that.

说没有人保她，就是她的问题了。 chiusmd对这个最有见解。
一年多的rotation，难道没有impress任何attending吗？

though. But I need to correct some mindset here,
really do not mind to restart as a PGY-1in internal medicine or family
medicine.
it is totally wrong. internal me is much easier in the future because most
of them will become as same as 千老 in Biology in some sense.
family medicine is the gold in the future as shine as surgery.

发帖数: 1299 | 8 你说的很对。 program 不到万不得已，不会赶人。赶走一个住院医要做好多paper
work。自动辞职，对将来影响最小，越fight，以后trouble越多。 fight要在decision
之前，之后只能好聚好散。比如有人要告你状，一般直接到pd， pd就会去了解情况，
再找你谈，若事小，就不了了之了，兜不住，就要到committee上来讨论，committee讨
论都要存档，，一旦committee决定了，很难改。所以你若说服不了pd，就要说服一
committee帮你说话，committee一边倒，就惨了。
所以中国美国差不多，要搞好同事和上下级关系。进program后一般总要抱一两根大腿
，有备无患，关键时说公道话。就像买保险，最好不用。

发帖数: 12932 | 9 这个一般都会有warning的， 比如说三个月的review unsatisfactory, 这种时候就要
万分小心了。 give 120% effort to remedy the issue. Dont argue, don't get
negative, and don't pretend everything will be fine all by itself. Really
look deep into yourself and see anything you could have done better but didn
't. Quite often there is something only you will know.
Not just FMGs, even bread and butter white AMGs who has good connections
could get fired. I had a classmate whose whole family are well known
physicians, father, brothers etc. He was first in general surgery, got fired
, then came to anesthesia, ot fired again-really over nothing serious, last
I knew he was waiting table at a restaurant.

it sounds pretty scary. failed in two programs really over nothing serious.
are you sure about your claim? He is AMG according to the context.
