boston. it's the deal when boston and abbott acquired Guidant in 2006.

for niti-based stents, does ABT or BSX have their own manufacturing
facilities (like laser patterning; shape-setting, surface finish treatment)?
or they simply outsource those steps to companies like NDC, Memry, but they
keep drug-coating & packaging in house.
by the way, is polymer-based stent (bio-absorbable) getting hot?
If so, how long do you see NiTi-based stents will be phased out of the
market? |

specialized application and all major palyers should have manufacture
capability to the finest detail.
polymer stent is selling for the concept. it will take time to fully
penetrate into mature market. in coutries where ppl will buy concept
easily, it may sell well.
nitinol self-expand stent still have its applications for lower leg and
carotid. polymer stent can not replace this since stent can get fractured
easily.
