thyroid failure and/or goiter formation, it was thought to be a combination
of genetic susceptibility and environmental factors.Pts could experience
transit hyperthyroidism initially followed by signs/symptoms of
hypothyroidism. If pt does not have too many comorbidities, it could be
managed by a general internist.Treatment of choice is basally life-long
levethyroxine replacement. Things need to watch for: myxedema coma and
Hashimoto's encephalopathy. Also, bear in mind that LT4 dose requirements
increase by 50% during the first trimester of pregnancy. Hope this helps. | a*********d
