Unfortunately that's the way it is. We turned away 1 Indian and two Chinese
applicants two years ago just because their board scores were not as high,
despite of excellent research background, rec letters and experience, and
you can tell they have strong work ethics. The current program director is a
stickler to board scores, and he loves to show off the average applicant
score each year, even after two residents got fired and 1 was asked to stay
behind over the past 5 yrs, they all had excellent scores but just not good
radiologist. My buddy is on the committee and fought for those three fmg so
hard without any success.
It's not fair but it is the way things are run.
