C， 不要告诉病理说你也申请其它科
4. 面试：
A， 英语： 口语很重要。看电视，talk show， 多和人交流；把iv的问题每天都看
，达到很熟练，应对自如。
B， 容易相处
如何改善package：
1. OB
2. 提高英语：看电视，跟着repeat。
3. Volunteer： 大学实验室， MD professor。
4. LoRs： 国内大学老师推荐信1封，OB推荐信，volunteer地方推荐信
5. IV questions： 写出自己的优势，把常见的questions写出来，准备一些小故事
。面试的时候不能背，但是由于熟练可以随时说出来。把简历上的每一个过程的闪光点
写出来准备好，随时说出来。
如何做病理OB：
1. 上下的人都在打量你，对专业知识要求不高，主要表现好学，性格要好，多和residents
交流，多问attending问题。穿衣和打扮注意profeesional。
2. 有些是轮转，每个section轮转1-2天。跟定一个attending，也行，可以拿到一个好的
LOR。在一个科室做OB越长越好。
3. Field小， attending认识人，可以帮助推荐。OB给很多信息和资源优势。
Externship：
1. 不要在加州做，program最多做一些问病史和跟医生看病人。
2. 最好做inpatient的
3. 做的时候努力一些，多学一些，不要只想推荐信。
如何找病理OB：
1. 熟人
2. 网上找
UU999:
1. 找准自己的专业，如果有国内临床经验的人。适合自己的专业。有外科经历可以
申请病理和麻醉。
2. 有prelim的1年，很被看重。
3. Connection：适当的时间出现合适的人帮助自己
外科转麻醉理由： 外科累，想转
Hiter:
1. 选自己喜欢的职业。
2. 语言和对美国文化和医疗系统的了解
3. 面试完写thank you notes， 面试中途也写email， 表示感兴趣。 打听由谁做
决定，保持和这些重要的人联系。
4. Personality：一直保持微笑， 不慌乱，积极的态度。
5. 小组的力量：共享信息，互相减轻压力。即使是拿到同一个program的IV也没关
系。大家一起面试问题，做mock IV。
6. LoR：必须好，不能写语言不好。
7. OB：根据自己的情况，尽量到大地方做，有牛人的推荐信最好。 | c*****t

2010: 1st attempt, no connection, commercial externship. LOR 2 from china. IV # not bad but interview skill not good. YOG<5yrs. Social skill not good, so she didn’t get matched for the first attempt. Lesson: English and interview skill.
2011: try to apply multiple specialties. No preference in localization. Try to do at one shot. Lesson: observation is important, know what to do, and know the questions in your field when interviewed. Match in Pathology. Surgery samples more than 30000/yr. LOR from attending. Find the very reason why you choose this specialty. Don't’ disclose you have applied other specialties. Personality and English are very important.
English improvement: watch TV, movie, talkshow, interact with person. Nail interview questions!
Externship: fmgportal (illegal in CA, but not recommended by her. Ask about location clinic-> pay-> more information about doc name). Some program is skeptical about this commercial externship. See patients, physical examination, but you can’t see patients independently. Do in-patient externship. Americanclerkship.
Q-OB: personality, passion, etiquette (professional).
Q-Second year update: OB in pathology; improve oral English; volunteer in University hospital (1 LOR). Really nailed interview (advantages+stories). Find out shinning points of your CV.
UU999:
Specialty-IM applied more than 100, 1 iv. No match.
10 surgery, 70 anesthesiology. One year prelim, One interview from the home school in surgery.
Specialty that fits you is important. Connection.
Hiter:
The specialty you really love. IM-priority matters, 14 IV+ 12 im+2 psych
YOG>10yrs, clinical work since came. Culture, English.
Application: keep in touch with the program (thank you note, update, etc.) to remind them. PD or chairman, committee, PC. Know who is critical.
Connection: 1 from connection, others are not. Some program is very integrate, mentioning some connection may not always be good.
Interview skill: always smile. Find a good interview study group that generously sharing information and experience. Lower your anxiety level if you get some heads-up. Prepare interview question and answers.
LOR: can not cover any negative info.
OB: good hospital weighs more. LOR is the goal.
Q: clinical experience. Nurse, communication and clinical skill. Externship is important. Hands-on experience. | i**********d
