一直没有写面经, 因为觉得今年所有的提高都得益于自己的互助组。希望能和兄弟们
一起庆祝。
因为给来信网友提过一些建议, 所以可以汇总一下,开个建议贴吧:
1.The best residency IV book: The Residency Interview: How to Make the Best
Possible Impression [Kindle Edition] $ 15.9
I highly suggest you to buy the kindle version from amazon immediately,
which allows you read on on kindle, computer, and smartphone, everywhere.
Better read it word by word, take notes, or if you are reading on computer (
need install kindle software), copy to make notes as word document!!!
(our group has a shared Amazon account,so we could share the books and cost
-allow maxim 6 devices)
2. Have all the major IV questions typed in word doc, read it over over over
again, revise to the most reasonable answers suiting yourself's background.
3. Practice in front of mirror, with your most nature smile, best sound, and
good eye contact ( suggest you do this whole day before IV)
4. After IV, immediately find the nearby gas station or Starbucks to
write down all the questions, your anwers, and what you could improve for
next IV.
5. Discuss those with your teammate the same week, and incoperate their
suggestion as your next version. ( we have one IV review session and one
Mock IV session each week, sometime it could last from 9-12)
5. Never never be defensive to any question. Always think the tough
interviewers are those trying much harder to pick you up from the rest , as
the gold from the sand.
1. Be appreciative to their effort,
2. Feel them as your alleys, not enemies
3. get excited when you face the tough IVers, and tough questions, since those are your chances, and others' 拦路虎, if they didn't prepare as well as you did .
....... to be continued :)

Thanks for sharing your experience and the precious advice.
I guess my problem would not be defensive to the questions. Instead, I
treated the interviewers as my alley immediately and then exposed all my
weaknesses as well as some strengths to them :-) I forgot my aim is to sell
myself during interview. I imaged they already picked me up from the sand :-)
In addition, I often 此地无银三百两+画蛇添足, hehe.
It's fun to read your posts.

Strongly agree with the 'not be defensive' part.
For US. Ph.Ds, years of grad training sometimes sharpened us to be quick to
defend our findings/hypothesis/models ect. This eventually lead to our
success in 'defending the thesis' to get Ph.D. However, watch out for that
part and do not let your 'sharpness' serve you the wrong way. :-)
It still 'agitates' me when I hear some AMG or even Ph.Ds in
hospitals belittle 'basic science or research'...
Have you, Lz, caught yourself in such kind of situation? By the way, it is always a pleasant to read your
post
