IMPORTANT NOTE: For ERAS 2012, ERAS Support Services at ECFMG expects to
offer applicants the ability to send electronic requests for letters of
recommendation (LoRs) directly to their letter writers. Letter writers will
have the ability to upload LoRs directly to ERAS Support Services via a new
Letter Writer Portal (LWP). LoRs uploaded through the LWP are expected to be
processed within one to two weeks. Please monitor the ERAS Support Services
section of the ECFMG website for additional information.

根据这个解释和其中邮寄的说明"If you do waive your right to see your LoRs,
provide the letter writer with a completed AAMC Request for Letter of
Recommendation/Cover Sheet and a completed DSF so that he/she can send the
LoR directly to ECFMG in a sealed envelope from the institution.＂, LOR应由
推荐人直接寄出, 不应该由申请人寄出. 但在实际操作中, 不少人也是把推荐信收齐
密封好后, 一起由申请人寄出， 至于这种方法, ＥＲＡＳ会不会认为是一种＂you
obviously did not waive your right to see them＂而被"annotated＂就不知道了,
但是LＯＲ肯定还是会被扫描进出的.
问了几个ＡＭＧ住院医, 他们都说他们当年的LＯＲ都是由推荐人直接寄出的.至于Ｉ
ＭＧ会不会是个different story， 就需要前辈指点了. 谢谢！

The use of this system was postponed for 6 days. And it seems this
electronic system is run via Dean's office with specific electronic protal.
It still takes about 1-2 weeks to get the LOR ready in ERAS by saving 1-2
weeks comparing with traditional method.

I use the similar method. The steps are:
1. Register an account by providing credit card info in www.fedex.com.
2. Save the address of ECFMG-ERAS (by courier service) as a receiver
3. Save the addresses of LOR writers in the account as senders.
4. Print the shipping labels online (can be done at home)
5. Insert the label into Fedex envelope (which can be obtained free from
local Fedex store).
6. Give the prepaid Fedex envelope with the shipping label to the LOR writer
.
7. It could be dropped off to any convenient Fedex places whenever the LOR
is ready.
8. The tracking number is saved in the account which can be tracked at any
time.
Similar steps with UPS if it is chosen.

对于当地的writer， 我去年是请他/她把信写好了封好信封口上盖上章或者钢印，我自
己拿着信封去usps寄flat rate w/ tracking，寄信人写writer的info
对于remote的writer，我给他们提供资料的时候顺带给了一个usps贴了邮资和tracking
#的flat rate envelop.
关于Fedex，好像online account打出来的prepaid label必须于预先选定的日期range
寄出，否则label失效？去年在kinko问的，但我一直怀疑这个说法，至今还没确认过。
估计可以试试在kinko店里付钱买label和tracking#贴上信封然后交给writer。但是强
烈不建议用usps，tracking system's very crappy！！！
key point: have a tracking #, that way you ll know when your referer sends
out his/her letter and when to arrive @ ECFMG.

系。几天或者几个星期后寄都没有关系。我自己曾经有过1,2天后寄的，也没有问题。

我昨天去了Local FedEx Center, 得到的是同样回答并看了样本. 也就是说打印ONLINE
LABEL时需选个日期(一般是十天范围的日期选项), 但如果实际寄出的日期与LABEL上
所选的日期不一致时, FedEx在收件后, Local Hub会重新出个邮寄日期的Sticker粘在
事先ONLINE打印出的LABEL上. 总之就FedEx寄件时,不用担心LABEL日期和实际寄出日
期不一致的问题. |
