MD/Ph.D.program
| a****9 发帖数: 773 | 2 physician scientist. better chance for grant application, maybe.

156 | 6 I've seen on an AMG forum that people say M.D./Ph.D even earn less
compared with M.D. I guess this simply is a statistical figure: more
M.D. go to private than M.D./Ph.D. Probably the fact is the more
clinical work you do, the more you earn.
Also when looking at another statistic, the difficulties in getting a
grant, I was surprised to find no differences in the average age when a
person get first R01 in his/her life: Ph.D., 42y. M.D.,44y. M.D/Ph.D.,
44y.
Also, good luck to your match!

| m****d 发帖数: 156 | 8 It only means that you spend extra 4 years doing bench work, and
finally catch up with M.D. peers at the same stage of your lives in
terms of research. but for income, you fall behind. By the way, some
MD/PHD program finishes PhD part within 3 years. Few of those students
touch the field of basic science. They prefer more straightforward, or
disease-based medicine.
MD/PhD.
