发帖数: 234 | 1 I thought categorical means the program has both "PGY-1, first year
internship in either IM/Surg/Transitional" and "PGY-2,3,4 in anesthesia"
available, and in interview day I probably will meet with faculties from
both anesthesia and the preliminary year specialty (IM/Surg/Transitional).
Advanced means the program only have "PGY-2,3,4 in anesthesia" available,
and I have to find a "PGY-1, first year internship in either IM/Surg/
Transitional" myself, anywhere in USA.

They may not call the PGY-1 as an "internship", but will rotate through the
similar group of departments plus some tutorials of anesthesiology. The "
true" anesthesiology training is scheduled from the PGY-2 to PGY-4 (CA 1-3). | e*****a

finding a preliminary PGY-1 myself, right?
- Yes
faculties from preliminary specialty (like IM/Surg)?
- It depends on the categorical program's setup. If the anesthesiology
department handles the PGY-1 year, it most likely no need to meet the prelim
faculties from IM/Surgery. If another department handles the prelim
training for the categorical program, that department could initiate an
interview.
