有个公立似乎还不错。

schools can be like $5K-$10K per year.
There are a couple of good public schools, but they require tests (and good
luck) to get in.
There is state income tax (is it 6%?) and home/car insurance is high. Crime
rate is high. There are not many big companies in NOLA after Katrina.
There are safe areas to live - Uptown, Garden District, and Old Metairie.
House price is high in those areas for a decent home.There are a lot of rich
families in NOLA who live there for many generations.
Having said that, NOLA is a very unique place with lots of characters.
People are friendly.
The decision should be made depending on what your friend has as an
alternative, what is the career goal, how long he's staying, where he's
moving from, etc. etc.

如果孩子上私立的话，那就更紧巴巴了
这里公立教育系统不太好，好学校凤角翎毛，公共系统比起美国很多州和城市也不怎么地
并不是适合养孩子的地方
但每个地方都有每个地方的活法，肯定都能生活就是了 |
