members. for multiracial groups, you can really identity yourself with
either group. I don't think there is a specific set of rules the government
goes by. Your race is first determined on your birth certificate, it's hard
to change later on.
However, reality is many people still assume the one-drop rule, even though
they are not too open about it.
When in situation identifying yourself with certain race/ethnicity can be
beneficial, proof may be required.
I suppose in this case, to receive beneficial treatment for being Hispanic
in the admission process, students may have certain requirements such as
having at least one Hispanic grandparent born or had roots in a Latin
