with a few people that just got into their first house and could use some
help.
I have no experience (besides my own house and a few rental properties)
servicing and maintaining residential AC systems.
I do have experience design commercial HVAC system for a living for over 5
years, those are mostly for hospital and library, etc. I have learned a few
useful tips I am willing to share.

The short answer (given everything else being equal) contrary to popular
belief, is actually the AC that runs all the time to keep you just
comfortable. Which means, a 1 ton unit that runs 24 hours per day is going
to cost you less money in electricity to run, quieter, with better moisture
removal and less temperature fluctuations than a 2 ton unit that runs 12

A "ton of refrigeration" is defined as the cooling power of one short ton (
2000 pounds or 907 kilograms) of ice melting in a 24-hour period. This is
equal to 12,000 BTU per hour, or 3517 watts.
BTU is not 功率单位, BTU/hour is 功率单位.

我来说说你为什么错。
第一，比较1 ton 24 hours 和 2 ton 12 hours就是原则性错误，前面已经说过，就不
多说了。
第二，你说
If duct and fan size and speed are equal, 1 ton unit can
transfer more heat (or cool depending how you look at it) per minute. let's
use 1 ton unit as the base here, if it is 100% efficient, 2 ton unit will be
90% efficient and 4 ton unit will only be 80% efficient. In order for
larger size unit to have the same efficiency, you need to increase the duct
size, coil size (or surface area), fa
