I enjoy nice green lawn like most 老外, I don't know why some chinese people
here insist on they like brown lawn. (but if you truely like it, that is ok

My watering system is actually controlled by my home automation system,
which decide how much water to use everyday based on reading from soil
moisture sensor like this one.

when you ask them to spend just a little to water their yard.
Money to the bank is for someone else to enjoy, money spend on your yard is

got 4 55 gallon barrel, but soon find out, it is not enough to water lawn (
not even enough for my plants).
I decide to invest in underground fiberglass tank, more like a gas station
set up now. Rain water, shower water, everything to into that tank after
they pass a sand filter. Only water from toilet and kitchen does not go into
it.

Usually a second water meter is installed when sprinkler system is installed.
Water going to your house got charged for both water and sewer, water to
sprinker only got charged for water (some area sewer is more costly than
water)
I have also seen some city/county charge you a flat sewer fee based on your
average water usuage in winter month. That way save them a water meter, but
you are not charged for the water that is not going back
