收到搬运公司（United Van Lines)的信，说是他们给倒闭了的公司起诉，其中牵涉到
我当年搬家的费用，法院责令他们退还了一半的搬运费（$2688.58）给倒闭了的公司.
现在搬运公司要我付这笔钱。这算哪门子的事啊？

I guess the employment contract may not be relevant. The company paid the
transportation charges. Then in the US Bankcrupcy court, the company sued
the United Van Lines demanding that United return the payment that the
company previously made. United entered into a settlement agreement with the
company wherein United agreed to return half of the charge to the company.
Now United is demanding me pay them that amount they returned to the company

see any rational grounds to pay by your own either if you're merely an
employee. maybe because you're a third-party beneficiary? but how can your
company get back the money paid for a completed commercial service? that's
interesting... Or maybe I'm too ignorant...

consult a lawyer, or if they refuse to give you, you can wait for their lawy
er to contact you

I was merely an employee, not a owner of the company or its stocks. I was
the owner of the goods or beneficiary of the service. here is what in the
letter:
"As of a result of the payment United was required to make to resolve the
adversary proceeding, a portion of your moving charges are unpaid. Even if
an employer agrees to pay interstate transportation charges for its employee
, both the employer and the employee can be held jointly liable for payment
of the applicable inters |
