A postdoctoral position is available in the Robinson Lab in the Department
of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Kansas.
Overall, the aim of the lab is to determine the role of sex hormones on
musculoskeletal tissue regeneration and use this information to design
biomaterials to promote sex-dependent regeneration. Experience with some or
all of the following is desired:
- Animal surgery (preferably rat or rabbit)
- In vivo response to biomaterials
- Polymer chemistry, polymerization reactions, polymer-based scaffold
fabrication and characterization
- Mammalian cell culture (primary cells, stem cells, suspension culture)
- Molecular biology techniques (RNA sequencing, CHIP, FRET, in situ
hybridization, histology)
Qualifications:
Biomedical Engineering/Chemical Engineering Applicants should hold a PhD or
MD/PhD in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or related
discipline.
Biology Applicants should hold a PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, or
related discipline.
Candidates should be independently motivated, creative, have a desire to
learn/develop new techniques and approaches, and have excellent written and
oral communication skills. Candidates should have a demonstrated record of
publications expected for her/his level of training.
Expectations:
- Draft and edit scientific manuscripts and reports
- Aid in grant writing
- Oversee lab orders, student training, project management
