The Northwest Chinese Academy is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Mandarin
Chinese immersion teachers to join our community. As a Mandarin Immersion
Teacher, you must possess native fluency in Mandarin; established individual
performance goals; have good student management skills; work with other
immersion team members and administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Highly compassionate and energetic, with a strong passion for
teaching Mandarin Chinese
• Good at student-centered pedagogy such as differentiation and use
of assessment to inform teaching
• Desire to develop as an educator
• Native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
• Demonstrated proficiency in English
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or equivalent professional
teaching experience
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Education
• A valid teaching license
• At least 1 year Chinese immersion classroom head teaching
experience
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Understand and implement effective teaching strategies for
immersion language learners.
• Experience in teaching mandarin using Simplified Chinese.
• Knowledge of curriculum/assessment development and design.
• Expertise of Chinese customs and culture.
• Maintains a professional day, evaluates students' academic and
social growth.
• Ability to use technology as a language learning and
instructional tool.
• Be a role model of respectful behavior at all times.
• Works in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues
and supervisors.
• Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to
child protection, health, safety, security, confidentiality and data
protection.
• Being able to effectively communicate with students, parents, and
coworkers.
• Participate in ongoing training sessions.
• Attend school activities and support the school community.
