investigate the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration in neural diseases
including stroke using both in vitro model of primary cultured neurons and
glial cells and in vivo mouse model. The position is available immediately.
Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent degree (
preferably a recently received degree) in neuroscience, physiology, cell
biology, bioengineering or a related field. Excellent oral and written
communication skills and capabilities to work independently and in
collaboration research are necessary. A successful candidate should possess
interdisciplinary skills especially in experimental neuroscience and
molecular neurobiology to conduct cellular and animal studies. Specifically,
a candidate should have skills in:
(1) Molecular and cellular neurobiology: vector design and construction, RT-
PCR, primary neuronal and glia cell cultures, immunohistochemistry and
immunofluorescence, Western blot, cell-and brain-tissue based neuronal death
assays.
Or (2) Neurophysiology: Live cell and/or in vivo two-photon fluorescent
imaging, mouse handling and surgical procedures, electrophysiological
recording of neuronal activity.
