My opinion about working at Uber:
Good:
- Equity compensation unmatched by FLG (may be even more lucrative if
valuation continues to go up)
- You get to work with really brilliant world class folks
- Very transparent culture from top down
- You will have the opportunity to make significant impact to the most
exciting company in the world
- Free Uber credits
Bad:
- Free lunch is often pretty bad, and dinner doesn't start until 8:15
- Commute not great if you don't live in SF

getting hired because he knew a manager here that had an opening for him.
Recruiters will tell you to only re-apply if there has been new development
in your experience. I have also heard people say half a year. Basically you
should be able to show that something has changed since the previous time.

REASON TO GET AN INTERNAL REFERRAL: The official statistics show that an
internally referred candidate is 10x more likely to get an offer than one
that applies through the company website (not making this one up).
My thoughts on working at Uber:
Good:
- Equity compensation very unlikely to be matched by FLG (may be even more
lucrative if valuation continues to go up)
- You get to work with really brilliant world class folks (Lots of software
engineers I work with were CTOs, directors, or founders at other companies).
This is important not only for becoming better, but the opportunity to
establish relationships with people that will go off and start successful
companies.
- Very transparent culture from top down
- You will have the opportunity to make significant impact at the most
exciting company in the world
- Free Uber credits
- Having Uber on your resume will be like having Facebook on your resume in
the not so distance future
Bad:
- Free lunch is often pretty bad, and dinner doesn't start until 8:15
- Commute not great if you don't live in SF
- HQ is in a sketchy neighborhood, right next to Twitter
- No signing bonus
- No new H1B application for overseas candidates

is being more selective when it comes to new grads, and tends to look for
graduates from top engineering programs with good internship experiences. I
find that 9/10 new grad applicants don't either of these criteria. Those
that do typically are considered.
