yes you can work.
the only thing is still Visa-risk to change from F1->H1.

because my H1B won't be in effect by then.

it depends when you go back China.
I would say same risk.
I once went to Canada for my H1 after it was effective long time ago.
It took me an hour for interviewing for the visa back then.

I need to go back to China in early 2010, maybe in Feb.
My opt expires in July 2010.

then bring all your documents with you and go ahead.
I once went back to China without making visa appointment first.
The only lucky thing was that time time was long enough for me.
Though finally I got my visa a few days before my flight ticket.

saying OPT or H1B itself is risky. I am on OPT and will go back, but I don't
have change of status problem. Ask your school. |
