AWT is a worse choice.

Looking at Eclipse, SWT is becoming an attractive alternative.

I *did* think twice - then said "attractive alternative", instead
of "overwhelming replacement". 8-)

c*****t 发帖数: 1879 | 8 Where can I find screenshots of Eclipse?
Currently, I am in a need of getting a IDE environment that supports
plug-ins modules, similar to NetBeans for a medical imaging software.
NetBeans currently is not easy to be configured (one has to change the
source code and compile it), though modules can be added via xml.
Eclipse seemes interesting, but I want to know its interface etc.
BTW, will Eclipse support Java3D?

I doubt you need to change the source code to *configure* NetBeans.
If there is something you have to change the source code to configure,
chances are it's not supposed to be "configured" 8-)
Why don't you bring it up on NB's user list and see if somebody knows
a better way of doing it?
I remember eclipse.org has a platform section that talks about the
generic interfaces. I never had a chance to get into details though.
